IBN BATTUTA, DHA, KARACHI – 2016
The design direction for Ibn e Battuta Restaurant began with a single, powerful idea: a space inspired by the diverse influences of Ibn e Battuta’s travels. His journeys across cultures, landscapes, and histories became the foundation of our creative process, guiding both the aesthetic and spatial narrative.
Our challenge was not only to honor this spirit of exploration, but also to solve a long-standing gap in the restaurant industry—creating a café environment that caters meaningfully to both adults and children. This led us to develop the concept of a play café, where families can dine, unwind, and explore without compromise.
Drawing from the essence of travel, we crafted a space that feels layered, experiential, and welcoming. Through purposeful lighting, culturally-inspired materials, and discovery-driven spatial planning, the interior encourages curiosity and engagement—echoing the very philosophy of Ibn e Battuta’s journeys.
The result is a harmonious fusion of comfort, creativity, and narrative: a café where the spirit of exploration meets a modern, family-centric dining experience. Here, play, community, and storytelling coexist effortlessly within a unified design.
