TAI PAN, PC HOTEL, KARACHI – 2016
Designing a space within a space comes with both limitations and opportunities. For Tai Pan, the brief was clear: preserve the essence of their oriental design language while accommodating seating for over 80 guests.
Natural light became a defining element. By borrowing daylight from the expansive glazed windows along the south façade, we shaped a warm and inviting atmosphere that reinforced the brand’s identity and informed the linear layout of the interior.
Custom-designed screen walls played a multifunctional role—filtering light softly through the space while simultaneously serving as illuminated surfaces for imagery. These elements allowed the design to celebrate Tai Pan’s cultural narrative without overwhelming the overall spatial clarity.
The result is a balanced, light-driven dining environment that remains true to its origins while functioning seamlessly within its spatial constraints.
